I created Nìderwind in 2020, at the age of 40.
Trained as an oenological engineer, I began my career making wine in Burgundy, Switzerland and New Zealand. Thanks to these years of itinerancy, I've been able to practice my craft in different contexts (artisanal, traditional vs. industrial) and learn the advantages and disadvantages of the different approaches.
I then worked as a buyer for wine trading companies. First in Alsace, where I met my current winemaking partners 15 years ago! Then in Bordeaux, where I was trained in the precious art of blending.
In 2013, I returned to Alsace. I hesitate for a while to branch out into cooking, my other passion. I did an internship behind the stove at Le Cerf in Marlenheim. I loved it, but at the same time I had the opportunity to become technical director of a 15-hectare Alsatian vineyard.
I stay in the wine world and for 6 vintages, I familiarize myself with the vinification of local grape varieties, testing them individually and seeing how they can resonate together, a bit like a chef...
Today, these experiences allow me to have my own vision of wine, my own style, while ensuring quality production and avoiding the pitfalls of taste standardization.
Nìderwind was born of all this.
Igor Monge, oenologist.
